Dumi Masilela - A life cut short

On the 2nd August 2017, South Africans were rudely woken by the passing of one of the most promising and energetic stars in media. Dumi Masilela who played Sfiso on popular e.tv soap opera Rhythm City was short by criminals attempting to hijack him in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni. The criminals were driving a stolen black Jeep. Dumi was recently married to his media sweet heart Simphiwe Ngema who plays a character of Thuli on the popular Venda soap Muvhango. The love birds enjoyed constantly sharing pictures on social media. They looked happy as a couple and displaced affection in public domains.

During Dumi’s memorial service, Rhythm City cast told moaners about Dumi’s lively energy and professionalism on set and his devotion to God. “Dumi was constantly praising the almighty, he was a believer in his words and lived in accordance to his words. Dumi was a good friend, a good listener and a professional actor” said Thembi Seete. However, during the memorial service substantial number of people were moved by Dumi’s wife’s tribute “ what comforts me is the fact that I saw God in Dumi. God lived through him. Dumi was perfect and he loved effortlessly”. Dumi’s life was indeed cut short and hopefully his wife Simphiwe Ngema and the Masilela family will find solace in knowing Dumi touched so many lives on daily basis. Our prayers are with Dumi’s family and friends. From Topsy Media.
